Since 1993, Canada Post has celebrated Canadian achievements in literacy through the Canada Post Literacy Awards. The EDUCATORS AWARD honours educators, tutors and advocates who have demonstrated a commitment to the cause of literacy . Finalists demonstrate the nominee's significant commitment and contribution to literacy efforts, and the creativity or innovation of the nominee's approach to developing literacy programs.

"To liberate slow learners from feelings of inadequacy, Marie developed an easily understood grammar course during her 34 year teaching career. That course has become a video/workbook production called The Basic Cozy Grammar Course, which stars Marie, leading a series of 27 lessons for ages 9 to adult."
