As Marie waters the plants thriving outside her front door, she explains why it's so important to have an understanding of basic grammar for composing resumes, business letters and e-mails and for being interviewed, speaking in public, or dealing with people in formal settings. "Grammar is the technique of writing, just as understanding different plants is the technique of gardening...it is difficult to be creative at anything if you do not have the technique first." She goes on to explain that at the end of each lesson she will refer the viewer to the workbook so that they can complete the companion exercises, and then check their work with the answer key.
