Lesson 8: Subjective Complement
(8:07)

Subjective Complement
"A Complement is the noun, pronoun, or adjective that completes the meaning of the verb.  Complements can be Subjective or Objective.  Because complements complete the meaning of the verb, they are also called Subjective Completion or Objective Completion."   While Marie is raking up and gathering the maple leaves that have fallen all over her yard, she focuses on the subjective complement and recites a sample list of copula verbs.  She then uses sample sentences to demonstrate the subjective complement as a noun, as a pronoun, and as a predicate adjective.  "Subjective complements follow copula verbs."
