Lesson 2: Inflection And Classification
(7:14)
"Inflection means change. It is the change in the form of a word to express its relation, or to express its meaning. Relation is how words are related to one another in a sentence. Meaning is how a word is defined." Marie is attempting to repair an antique clock. She uses the clock to provide examples of inflection, relation and meaning. "Classification is the division of parts of speech into classes or groups." As she makes headway with the clock she presents an overview of the basic classifications for nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and conjunctions.
